Want to know a little more about the Advent Box?
Almost as soon as I founded What Florence Did Next, I knew Frostberry Grove would be my first advent offering and as I’ve sat for many months now, drawing, stitching and creating this marvellous little village, it hasn’t disappointed. A traditional English settlement decked out for the Holidays with whimsical charm and lashings of fairy lights, its really is a magical corner of the world.
Worked in a candy cane palette of festive reds, sweet-as-sugar pinks and creamy whites, along with a complimentary accompanying palette of greens and browns, the finished garland uses a mixed media approach, layering embroidery with sections of appliqué (using pieces from my treasured stash of antique fabrics) and painting, as well as the addition of vintage trims, bits of lace, and embellishments to add finishing touches and hints of sparkle.
How does it work?
Customers will receive the entire advent project, beautifully prepared and packaged in a presentation box, in November. The job then is to sit on your fingers and wait until December. No sneaky peeks!
When December arrives the fun really begins. Set in to the top of the box will be a length of antique french linen with the designs pre-printed for the full advent project, and you will work your way through the village following the stitching instructions. This is a twelve day advent with the intention that, starting 1st December, recipients open a numbered package every other day through to 23rd December. Each embroidered design is highly detailed and stitch-intensive, and the full length of the stitched section of the garland measures 60” (yes, I really do mean 5 foot!), with extra linen on either end for gathering and tying. Following the detailed instructions included in each package, you will concentrate on completing one 5” scene at a time - much less daunting, right! Your finished garland will be a whopper, but packed full of intricate details and charming scenes, and just perfect to be hung above the fireplace, along a beam or displayed on a staircase, and treasured for years and years to come. This project will take you a lot of time to complete but I guarantee you will enjoy every stitch you put in to it.
What's included?
A long length (in excess of 5 foot) of antique french linen with the design for the entire Advent Box hand-printed on to the linen in readiness for your stitching
Thread card loaded with the embroidery threads used throughout the project
Pieces of antique fabric from my treasured collection to complete the appliqué elements of the garland - textured tonal linen, beautiful florals, Vichy checks and ticking stripes
A smorgasbord of fripperies, lace and trims to finish your village scene - everything from vintage velvet and lace trims, to buttons, seed beads and tiny sequins
Curated palette of little watercolour pans for completing the painting elements of the project
Comprehensive stitching guides for each of the twelve sections, with a step by step instructions and lots of photos for reference
Open access to contact me with questions about your stitching while you are working on the project - I am always very happy to help or provide a bit of guidance (or just to update you on what Florence has been up to)
Can I stitch this?
When I was designing and stitching Christmas At Frostberry Grove, I intentionally incorporated a number of stitching techniques and a good variety of embroidery stitches, so that you continue to be inspired as you work your way through the village. The instructions I include, as well as very detailed photos provide a good basis to guide less experienced stitchers, in the hope that everyone can enjoy working on this. YouTube is also a great resource for demonstrations if you are unsure how to complete a certain stitch and I am always available to answer queries or even WhatsApp a quick demo of a particular stitch if you are stuck.
The Nitty Gritty…
How much is the Advent Box?
The full cost of the Advent Box is £300 + postage (and any other fees, duties, tariffs or other charges applied by your government).
This is of course a significant investment but for that price you will receive one continuous piece of antique french linen (in excess of 60” in length) printed with the designs of all twelve large and stitch-intensive scenes from the series. You will also receive the threads, vintage fabrics, paint, fripperies and embellishments to complete the stitching, along with detailed step-by-step instructions to work the designs. Each scene will be individually wrapped and numbered to indicate opening order, so that you won’t see what the finished embroidery for that section looks like until you unwrap that day during December. All this for the equivalent of £25 per kit (the same price I charge for some of my mini bunting kits, and despite these advent designs being significantly larger).
The designs from the Frostberry Grove will not be made available for purchase outside of this Advent Box until Summer 2027, and will be listed within the £35-40 per kit bracket to reflect their size and detail, so purchasing them as part of the Advent Box represents a huge saving of more than £100!
What are my options for payment?
To allow the advent calendar to be as affordable as possible, I am offering two payment options:
Payment in full at the point of checkout - peace of mind if you prefer the ‘one and done’ category
Payment spread across four instalments - at checkout you will pay a 25% deposit + postage to secure your advent box. You will then be invoiced on the 1st July, 1st August and 1st September for additional 25% instalments (to achieve full 100% paid status). By selecting this method you contract to settle the three additional instalments on receipt of each invoice. Please note your advent box will not be shipped until the full purchase price has been settled.
Please remember that shipping charges are additional to the cost of the Advent Box, and are calculated during the checkout process and for customers choosing to spread their payments across instalments, the postage charges will be applied in full on the initial checkout of the 25% deposit.
International Customers: Buyers are responsible for any tax/duty that is due upon receipt of the package. US parcels are sent via Royal Mail’s Postal Delivery Duties Paid (PDDP) shipping service. All parcels are sent via a Tracked Service.
WHAT ABOUT POSTAGE?
No one wants anxiety over the whereabouts of their advent box so it is my hope to be shipping the advent boxes to customers in early November. The absolute latest that boxes will be shipped is 15th November, allowing ample time for your parcels to travel worldwide, based on the published shipping timeframes.
This said, What Florence Did Next cannot be held responsible for ‘speedbumps’ in shipping that are outside of our control - international Customs backlogs, misdirected parcels, etc. Customs do also occasionally open parcels to inspect the contents - goods are returned to the box afterwards and everything is resealed, but damages to packaging can occur during these checks and again, are beyond our control.
THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT…
This is a pre-order item so please do not purchase your Advent Box at the same time as any other items from the store (unless you are prepared to wait until November to receive them). Your order will not be shipped until every product on the order is in stock.
A note on changing your mind…
I have tried to detail everything that I think you would wish to know before committing to buy an Advent Box in the hope that this allows you to make an informed decision on purchasing. The work involved with producing this advent spans more than 12 months and I engage various suppliers to produce and source goods for me in order to be able to create Frostberry Grove. Cancellations therefore have a serious impact on my business and for this reason, a specific cancellation policy applies to this item.
Cancellations requested before the end of August 2026 will be refunded in full, less a £30 admin fee. Cancellations requested from 1st September 2026 onwards will only be eligible for a refund, less a £30 admin fee, once the Advent Box has been resold.
