What's included?

  • Comprehensive stitching guide with a step by step instructions, lots of photos for reference and an annotated plan for the project. Because this project includes a type of informal silk shading, a collage of photos to demonstrate the stitching process has been included, illustrating how the colours are layered up to achieve the shading and markings

  • Hand typed label on vintage linen to be attached as part of your design

  • Antique French linen with the embroidery design already hand printed ready for you to start stitching

  • Card with all of the threads you will need to complete this project

  • Open access to contact me with questions about your stitching while you are working on the project - I am always very happy to help or provide a bit of guidance (or just to update you on what Florence has been up to)

Can I stitch this?

There are quite a number of different embroidery stitches and techniques used in this kit that a more competent stitcher would be more comfortable with, but the instruction include very detailed photos on how to build up the markings stitch by stitch, in the hope that even a more novice stitcher can enjoy working on this. YouTube is also a great resource for demonstrations if you are unsure how to complete a certain stitch.

I would say that all of the Entomology series benefit from a slower approach, where the stitcher reduces their stitch size down dramatically, allowing the markings to be more precise and the resulting effect more beautiful.

Is this sized to fit the heirloom bunting?

This is part of the wider Entomology collection and is too large to be accommodated on a bunting flag. It looks stunning mounted in a 6” box frame (which is how the original is presented), where the deeper aperture allows the bugs to appear almost lifelike - your very own miniature specimen collection.
