Winter Hare

£30.00

Always a joy to see, this sweet little hare has joined Florence’s menagerie, a distant cousin of the ones Dilys and I see darting across the fields and in to the hedgerows when we head out on our early morning walks.

It was always a certainty that a white hare would join the Christmas bunting when I started designing for this collection.

What's included?

  • Comprehensive stitching guide with a step by step instructions, lots of photos for reference and an annotated plan for the project. Because this project includes a type of informal silk shading, a collage of photos throughout the stitching process has been included, demonstrating how the colours are layered up to achieve the fur effect.

  • Antique French linen with the embroidery design already hand printed ready for you to start stitching

  • Card with all of the threads you will need to complete this project

  • Open access to contact me with questions about your stitching while you are working on the project - I am always very happy to help or provide a bit of guidance (or just to update you on what Florence has been up to)

Can I stitch this?

There are a number of different embroidery stitches and techniques used in this kit that a more competent stitcher would be more comfortable with, but I have included a stitching step by step guide in the hope that even confident beginners can achieve his beautiful fur.  YouTube is also a great resource for demonstrations if you are unsure how to complete a certain stitch.

Is this sized to fit the heirloom bunting?

Absolutely!  This has been sized to fit a bunting flag (and looks gorgeous strung as part of my Christmas strand), but the design comes on a good sized piece of antique linen so, if bunting isn't your thing, it would look equally lovely made up as a bowl filler, as a patch on a bag or mounted in a little frame.

The instructions for making your own strand of heirloom Christmas bunting can be found here.
